The agency has won the competition for transforming the Palais Saint-Mélaine in Rennes into a mixed-use program of housing and offices. Situated and developed in connection with the Saint-Melaine Abbey, the former bishop’s palace is an integral part of this large religious enclosure, established outside the city as early as the medieval period and reinforced in the 17th and 18th centuries. Classified as a Historic Monument since 1959, the Palace—set between courtyard and garden—has housed many successive functions: former archbishopric in 1770, Museum of Natural History and Arts in 1793, Faculty of Law in 1911, and the Rectorate of the Academy in 1965.
The project is being carried out for Renaissances and developed in collaboration with ANA Ingénierie, Equilibre Structure, KS Paysage, and Agence ON.
